Publish data to GeoNode¶
GeoJibe can publish the result of a workflow as a GeoNode catalog resource.
GeoNode is its own Destination. Publish here — not to the GeoServer that may sit behind GeoNode.
Before you start¶
You'll need:
- A GeoNode site with API v2 upload (GeoNode 5.x is the primary target; 4.2+ usually works)
- An API token, or a username and password
- Vector data with geometry and a CRS
- A saved GeoNode Destination
You need to be signed in.
Compatibility in plain terms¶
GeoJibe looks at what the connected GeoNode actually supports, rather than asking you to pick a version.
- GeoNode 5 — expected to work
- GeoNode 4.2 and newer — typically works when the upload API is present
- Older GeoNode without
/api/v2/uploads/upload— not supported
Category, keywords, and abstract appear in the form when that GeoNode provides them. If a field is hidden, that site does not expose it.
1. Save a GeoNode connection¶
Open Destinations → Add Destination → GeoNode.
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| GeoNode URL | Site root, such as https://geonode.example.com |
| Authentication | API token, or username and password |
| Token or Username / Password | Matching credentials |
Click Test. You should see Connected to GeoNode, sometimes with your username. Then Save.
2. Add your data¶
Upload or import a vector dataset. Add Transform or Convert if you need them.
If several layers are present, you will publish one.
3. Choose GeoNode¶
Add GeoNode and select the saved Destination.
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Title | Required. Shown in the catalog |
| Resource name | Machine name. Letters, numbers, and _ |
| Category | Optional, when the site lists categories |
| Keywords | Optional, comma-separated |
| Permissions | Private or Public view |
| Abstract | Optional, when supported |
| Layer to publish | Required when there is more than one layer |
If a resource with that name already exists, publication fails. GeoJibe does not overwrite GeoNode datasets.
4. Run¶
Click Run or Publish to GeoNode.
GeoJibe uploads a GeoPackage, waits for GeoNode to finish processing, then sets title, metadata, and permissions.
What happens next?¶
You should see Published to GeoNode with the title. Open in GeoNode appears when GeoJibe received the resource page URL.
Processing can take a few minutes. If GeoNode never finishes, the run fails with an upload or processing error.
Jobs¶
You can save this workflow as a Job. Each run still needs a resource name that does not already exist.
