GeoServer¶
Connect to GeoServer so you can browse workspaces and feature types, build queries, and use the same connection for maps.
Goal¶
Create a working GeoServer connection in Connection Manager and use it as a report Data Source.
Prerequisites¶
- GeoServer base URL (for example
https://example.com/geoserver) - Username and password when the service requires authentication
- Network access from your workstation
Steps¶
- Open Data → Connection Manager….
- Add a connection and choose GeoServer.
- Enter:
- Base URL
- Username and Password (optional — leave blank for anonymous access)
- Default workspace (optional)
- Click Test to verify the service.
- Save the connection.
- On the Data tab, select the connection. Browse Workspaces → feature types → columns.
- Open Query Builder, choose columns and filters, then Apply.
- Preview rows, place fields on the report, then Preview.

Notes¶
Note
Query Builder writes SQL against the feature type. Preview and report fill run that query as a live WFS request. Features are not imported into a local database.
Note
Passwords are stored in the operating system credential store, not in the report.
Tip
The same connection can drive a GeoServer map. Use a clear display name so Report Server can resolve it when the report is published.
Result¶
The connection appears in Connection Manager and can be selected for queries and for GeoServer map frames.
