Opening Reports

Open an existing report project to continue editing.

Goal

Open a saved report from disk.

Prerequisites

• A report project folder that contains project.json

Steps

1. Choose File → Open… (or Open Existing on the Welcome screen).
2. Browse to the report project.
3. Select project.json, or a .jrxml file that lives alongside its project.json in the same folder.
4. Confirm. The report loads into the workspace.

Result

The report opens on the last-used tab. Unsaved changes from other work should be saved first if prompted.

Tips

Warning

Opening a standalone .jrxml file without a sibling project.json is not supported as a full project import. Keep project folders intact.

Tip

Store each report in its own folder so project.json, JRXML, and related assets stay together.
