Adding Maps

Add a map frame to any band that should show geography.

Goal

Insert a map and open its properties for configuration.

Prerequisites

• Design tab is active
• Target band has enough space for the map

Steps

1. Select the band (Title, Detail, Summary, and so on).
2. Click the Map tool on the Design toolbar.
3. Draw the map rectangle on the canvas — or complete the Map Wizard if it opens.
4. With the map selected, open Properties.
5. Choose the map source and complete source-specific settings.
6. Save and open Preview.

Result

A map element is on the canvas. Preview renders it as an image inside the PDF.

Tips

Tip

Detail-band maps can show the current record’s geometry; Summary maps often show a wider overview.
