Parameters

Parameters let readers supply values at preview time — dates, regions, IDs, and other filters — without editing the report design.

Goal

Understand how parameters work and where to manage them.

Open Parameter Manager

  1. Choose Data → Parameter Manager (or open the Parameters pane on the Data tab).
  2. Add or select a parameter.
  3. Configure general settings, defaults, validation, and lookup options.

Reference parameters in SQL filters and expressions with $P{Name}. For multi-value IN lists, use $X{IN, column, Name} patterns as guided by validation messages.
